What are the steps to install the Automation Content Navigator on a control node?
Install ansible-navigator with dnf, check the version, log in to Red Hat's container registry with podman, and pull an execution-environment image.
- Install (brings further packages as dependencies):
sudo dnf install ansible-navigator - Verify the installation:
ansible-navigator --version - Log in to the container registry (needs a Red Hat account, since this is the paid platform):
podman login registry.redhat.io - Pull the execution-environment image:
podman pull registry.redhat.io/ansible-automation-platform-22/ee-supported-rhel8:latest
Step 4 is optional in practice: ansible-navigator may download the default execution environment automatically the first time it runs. Steps 3 and 4 exist because navigator runs playbooks inside a container, so it needs a container image.
Go deeper:
Installing ansible-navigator (official docs) โ installation with a container engine (Podman/Docker) and pulling the default execution environment.
